Purpose:

The purpose of this Anti-Nepotism Policy is to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all employees, volunteers, and contractors within Charles Carlini Presents, Inc. (Decibel). This policy aims to prevent any preferential treatment or perceived conflicts of interest that may arise from relationships between individuals in the workplace.

Scope:

This policy applies to all employees, volunteers, contractors, board members, and any other individuals involved in the operations of Charles Carlini Presents, Inc. (Decibel).

Policy:

1. Definition of Nepotism:

Nepotism is defined as the practice of favoring relatives or close friends in hiring, promotion, or other employment decisions. For the purposes of this policy, relatives include, but are not limited to, spouses, domestic partners, children, siblings, parents, in-laws, and any other individuals with whom the employee or board member has a close personal relationship.

2. Prohibition:

  • No employee or board member of Charles Carlini Presents, Inc. (Decibel) may be involved in the hiring, supervision, evaluation, or promotion of a relative or close personal friend.
  • Individuals who have a personal or familial relationship with an applicant or current employee must disclose this relationship to their immediate supervisor or the HR department before participating in any employment decisions related to that individual.

3. Disclosure Requirements:

  • Employees and board members must disclose any personal or familial relationships that could create a potential conflict of interest.
  • Disclosures should be made in writing to the HR department, which will then assess the situation and determine the appropriate course of action.

4. Employment Decisions:

  • Employment decisions, including hiring, promotions, and performance evaluations, must be based on merit, qualifications, and organizational needs rather than personal relationships.
  • Any decisions that involve relatives or close personal friends of employees or board members will be reviewed by the HR department or a designated impartial committee to ensure compliance with this policy.

5. Addressing Violations:

  • Any violations of this policy should be reported to the HR department or the board of directors.
  • Reports will be investigated promptly, and appropriate corrective actions will be taken, which may include disciplinary action up to and including termination.

6. Exceptions:

In rare and exceptional cases where a relative or close personal friend is the most qualified candidate for a position, the decision will be reviewed and approved by the HR department or a designated impartial committee. The rationale for the decision must be documented.

7. Policy Review:

This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as necessary to ensure its effectiveness and relevance.

Responsibility:

It is the responsibility of all employees, board members, and contractors to familiarize themselves with this policy and adhere to its principles. The HR department will provide guidance and support to ensure compliance.

Approval:

This policy has been approved by the Board of Directors of Charles Carlini Presents, Inc. (Decibel) and is effective as of August 14, 2024.
